Jumpers in da Solomons
What the heck is going on in my country! The parliamentarians are making themselves look like idiots now! Well, some if not most of them are idiots anyway. The MPs are turning the Parliament House into a playground where they are just enjoying themselves swinging from one side to another and then back again. Man, I can't talk no further...I'm just damn frustrated! Somebody help this country...

Unconditional Love - Tupac Amaru Shakur
Aight folks, here's the lyrics of my all time favorite rapper, Tupac's song "Unconditional Love."
What y'all want?
Unconditional Love (no doubt)
Talking bout the stuff that don't wear off
It don't fade
It'll last for all these crazy days
These crazy nights
Whether you wrong or you right
I'm a still love you
Still feel you
Still there for you
No matter what (hehe)
You will always be in my heart
With unconditional love
Come listen to my truest thoughts, my truest feelings
All my peers doing years beyond drug dealing
How many caskets can we witness
Before we see it's hard to live
This life without God, so we must ask forgiveness
Ask mama why God deserved to die
Witness the tears falling free from my eyes
Before she could reply
Though we were born without a silver spoon
My broken down TV, show cartoons in my living room (hey)
One day I hope to make it
A player in this game
Mama don't cry, long as we try
Maybe things change
Perhaps it's just a fantasy
A life where we don't need no welfare
**** with our whole family
Maybe it's me that caused it
The fighting and the hurting
In my room crying cause I didn't want to be a burden
Watch mama open up her arms to hugging
And I ain't worried bout a damn thang, with unconditional love
Chorus:
In this game the lesson's in your eyes to see
Though things change, the future's still inside of me
We must remember that tomorrow comes after the dark
So you will always be in my heart, with unconditional love
Just got the message you've been calling all week
Been out here hustling on these streets, ain't had a chance to speak
But you know, with you and me it's on G
We could never be enemies, cause you been such a good friend to me
Where would I be without my dogs
No wonder why when times get hard
Cause it ain't easy being who we are
Driven by my ambitions, desire higher positions
So I proceed to make Gs, eternally in my mission
Is to be more than just a rap musician
The elevation of today's generation
If could make 'em listen
Prison ain't what we need, no longer stuck in greed
Time to play and strategize, my family's gotta eat
When we make somethin out of nothing
No pleasure in the suffering, neighborhood would be good
If they could cut out all the busting
The liquor and the weed the cussing
Sending love out to my block
The struggle never stops (unconditional love)
I'll probably never understand ya ways
With everyday I swear I hear ya
Trying to change your ways while gettin paid at the same time
Just had a baby with the same eyes
Something inside, please let me die these are strange times
How come I never made it
Maybe it's the way the played it in my heart
I knew one day I gotta be a star
My hopes and all my wishes
So many vivid pictures, and all the currency
I'll never even get to see
This fast life soon shatter us
Cause after all the lights and screams
Nothing but my dreams matter
Hoping for better days
Maybe a peaceful night, baby don't cry
Cause everythang gonna be alright
Just lay your head on my shoulder
Don't worry bout a thang baby
Girl I'm a soldier (huh)
Never treated me bad, no matter who I was
You still came wif tha unconditional love.
Peace yo...Big R

Courage is what you need
Hi everyone:
It gets no better than what one of America's best known and best loved 19th century figures, Ralph Waldo Emerson, uttered with regards to what you really need for the rocky road of life ahead of you. In his very words, Emerson said and I quote, "Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you, you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to the end requires some of the same courage which a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men to win them" unquote.
Folks, if it is going to take only the brave to win battles then you got to start believing that you are a brave champion. This is the time you have to stand up and demonstrate the power of individuality in you. Be the person you are born to be!
Thanx,

To whom it may concern...
I don't profess to be a good adviser, and in fact, I am very poor in that department...But here are my 2 cents worth of stuff that I think students out there might want to think about:
1. When you go to school, enjoy it as much as possible but make sure you take care of your business. You probably would not be a well-informed person if you think that learning would only occur via being glued to your desk and fixing your eyes on your notebooks and textbooks 24-7. Do not limit your 'Universe Of Discourse' (as database systems managers call it). Be sensitive to the vast amount of information and knowledge that are floating around you, outside of the classroom. You can tap into those streams of information only by communicating, interacting, debating and having fun with other people. Ideas and standards you have can also be resharpened, refined and validated this way. So again, enjoy school as much as possible but be sure to take care of your business!
2. When you graduate from school, you are going to be given a piece of paper called a certificate with your name on it and whatever qualification(s) you earn. That piece of paper is like a 4-by-2 timber in your hands. Now, when you go back to your country, you are going to have basically two options. Either you go and build a house for somebody with that piece of wood or you walk down the street and hit somebody on the head with it. What I am saying is this; that certificate you have represents knowledge and knowledge is a powerful tool, if not, the most powerful one out there! Be very careful with what you are going to do with it.
Peace everyone,

Globalization???
Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization?
Answer: Princess Diana's death.
Question: How come?
Answer: An English princess...with an Egyptian boyfriend....crashes in a French tunnel...driving a German car...with a Dutch engine...driven by a Belgian who was drunk...on Scottish whisky...followed closely by Italian Paparazzi...on Japanese motorcycles...treated by an American doctor...using Brazilian medicines. This is posted by a Solomon Islander...using Bill Gates' technology...and you're probably reading this on your computer...that uses Taiwanese chips...and a Korean monitor...assembled by Bangladeshi workers...in a Singapore factory...transported by Pakistan lorry-drivers...hijacked by Indonesians...unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen...and trucked to you by Mexican illegals.....That, my friend, is Globalization!!!
Peace out...

Good stuff from Marc
Marc Anthony - "Baby You"
As I look into your eyes
I see all the reasons why
my life's worth a thousand skies.
You're the simplest love I've known
and the purest one I'll own.
Know you'll never be alone.
My baby you
are the reason I could fly.
And 'cause of you
I don't have to wonder why.
Baby you
there's no more just getting by.
You're the reason I feel so alive.
Though these words I say are true,
they still fail to capture you
as mere words can only do.
How do I explain that smile
and how it turns my world around.
Keeping my feet on the ground.
I will soothe you if you fall
I'll be right there if you call.
You're my greatest love of all.
Arianna I feel so alive.

Media: The determinant of topics of discussions
G'day folks,
I am sure some of you would agree with me that news plays a vital role in our lives day in, day out. It does have some, if not a lot of influence on the way we think, talk, and do things. But who determines what we, the public, should talk about or debate over everyday? What criteria do they use as the basis for making such kinds of decisions? Many of us never ask ourselves these questions. Each morning we would either just watch the news on TV, pick up and read a newspaper or visit news sites on the Internet but tend to overlook simple questions such as aforementioned.
This is one of the backdoor entries via which the media industry tiptoes into our lives and they don't need an entry access code. They call it 'agenda setting' or something along that line. You and I both know that each day there are a lot of things happening in the world. And a whole lot of them may worth knowing. But from a day's sunrise till its sunset, we would only be pondering on, discussing about and/or debating over only the news items we see on the TV, find in newspapers, read about on the Internet, and/or hear on the radio.
Ever wonder why some say the media industry is so strong? Well folks, this has got to be one of the 'media rules' stances. Amongst all the news that are occurring on a specific day around us, the news people would sit down and pick out only the news items they think are important for public discussion and present them to us. Whether we like it or not, whatever we, the public, would be discussing (or should I say the talk of the street) on a particular day are determined by the media. Let alone those who rely heavily on the media to make decisions and organize their lives.
Now, what criteria does the media people use as the basis for their decisions on the importance of news items? I mean, the very decisions they make in their offices would affect lives of people out there in some ways so as to speak. How do the media people come up with decisions on which news items should or must be included in lets say, a newspaper print on a specific day? I can only say that answers to these questions can only be provided by the media people. I honestly don't know the variables that go into making such decisions. Do they weed out and pick up news items based on the profitability of their firm? or on public interest? or a combination of both? I bet it would be interesting to sit amidst the media people as they make decisions on which news pieces to present. Trust me, there is going to a bit of debating for sure. Be that as it may, whether the media people usually base their decisions on their own opinions or on public opinion, I honestly don't know.
Here is the bottomline I wanted to get at; whenever we watch news on the TV, pick up and read a newspaper, visit an online news site or listen to the radio, at the back of our mind it is always good to be conscious of the role/s that the media people play in our lives.
